Family: MYRTACEAE
Genus: Eucalyptus
Catalan common name: Eucaliptus.
Spanish common name: Eucalipto.
General distribution (Phytogeography): Australiana
IUCN Category: Least concern
Flowering time: JanFebMarAprMayJunJulAugSepOctNovDec
Life-forms: Macrophanerophyte.
Habitats: Garden plants. Gardens.
Characteristics: Eucalyptus trees were originally from Australia, imported for gardening and reforestation. There are hundreds of different species of Eucalyptus in the original continent, much fewer in our gardens, even so they are not easy to classify. Eucalyptus trees have bark which comes off in strips leaving the trunk smooth with light colours. The leaves hang downwards and this means that these trees give very little shade. Their aroma is unmistakeable.
