Characteristics: This is a spineless climbing plant. Flowers have long petioles with the calyx slightly lobed. Leaves are entire, ovate to lanceolate with an asymmetric base. The berries are dark reddish blue in colour with pedicles slightly inflated at the upper portions.

Observations: As this is a cultivated plant, this species has many cultivated varieties with white or pink flowers and speckled leaves.
