Characteristics: A perennial herb, with an underground trunk, it produces new leaves every year during winter and afterwards they dry up in summer. The leaves are large and divided into leaflets with an irregular spear shape; they are green on the obverse and reddish or whitish on the underside. It develops large, spectacular purple flowers, with many stamens. It flowers at the beginning of spring. It lives in shady places, usually at the foot of rocky walls.
