Characteristics: Small annual plant, up to 10 cm tall. Stems erect, dichotomously branched (Y-shaped). Basal leaves spatulate, often falling off during flowering; cauline leaves sessile, alternate, entire or toothed. Very small flowers (corolla 1-2 mm), pale blue, arranged at the branch tips in a corymbiform inflorescence (pedicellate flowers arising at different levels but reaching similar heights). Fruit erect, with five prominent ribs, opening through apical pores.
